Nokia Lumia 800 Demo: easyHeartRate Measures Heart Rate with the Camera

easyHeartRate is a cool Windows Phone app I’ve been showing off to friends. It measures your heart rate using your phone’s camera. How is that even possible? You just need to press a button and cover the camera lens with your fingertip. Watch my demo with the Nokia Lumia 800 to see how it works.

You can also watch this video in HD on Youtube. Subscribe to the channel to preview the latest videos before they get published on the blog.

A closer look at the monitor shows that our fingertip pulsates and changes color against the camera lens. I’m assuming the easyHeartRate uses that data for the measurement.
I’ve never seen anything like this before. The idea behind the application is unique, but I think the user interface needs some improvement. easyHeartRate is 99 cents at the Marketplace, but also comes with a free trial.

Check it out and let us know what you think. Is there anything like this on the iPhone or Android?
